Stop, Pop and SHOP: CEOLA!......

On Thursday evening, I scurried upward of Lexington Avenue for the launch of a modish new 'Pop-up' visitor. Snuggled into a petite storefront in Midtown's Roger Smith Hotel, New York based designer Imani Alexander extends her latest collection with beauty and grace.

Art inspired, The Roger Smith hotel illustrates a new trend of interim retail stores hence the title 'Pop-up Shop'. Trendy names from the underground to the exclusive and even mainstream brands have all joined in on the phenomenon of being able to open up a shop on a temporary time frame. Joining the 'Pop-up' circuit is Ceola. With their tranquil, Caribbean inspired designs, Ceola invites a forgotten femininity back to the city.

Parallel to their subtle vibe, and with a glass of red wine I found myself mingling with the patrons of their opening reception on June 17th. Refreshing designs delighted my eyes as I peered through the designer's rack. Obviously, I could tell Imani Alexander wasn't too obsessed with the madness of this hipster era. Model/DJ Jessi Dash offered us some mellow tunes while guest literally 'popped in' and out of the brief boutique. Some guest included designers LaQuan Smith & Telfar Clemens, Kelly Mills, Mari J Brooklyn, Gwendy Feldman and Arielle Miller.

Debuting in June 2008, Ceola has already protruded success selling out of many of the West Village's finest boutiques. Inspired by Imani Alexanders late grandmother, Ceola's inspiration is to make women feel effeminate and well, 'flattering', a term that loads of female shoppers just cringe at not being able to fulfill. Captivating colors saturated by a fine flowing silk, Ceola adds a suave and elegant touch to any cultured woman. From the docks of St. Tropez, to those gallery openings in Chelsea, and even picnics in Fort Greene, Ceola's beautiful pieces are for all occasions.
